Dom Kannenwischer, MA, LPC

Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

My ideal client is someone age 21 or older who comes to therapy with an open mind and a willingness to grow. You may be navigating the effects of past trauma, anxiety, relationship struggles, or other challenges that feel overwhelming in your daily life. You may find yourself stuck in patterns of negative self-talk, low self-esteem, or difficulty practicing self-care. Therapy with me often includes helping clients find their voice, set healthy boundaries, gain insight into how the past influences the present, and begin to move beyond trauma responses that no longer serve them.

Early in my career, I trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a powerful and effective trauma-specific treatment. I approach therapy from a client-centered, insight-oriented, and attachment-based perspective. When working with couples, I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), a model grounded in building secure emotional connection.

Although I’m relatively new to the field professionally, I bring a wealth of lived experience to the work I do. I am a German immigrant, a veteran, a husband, and a father. My background includes time as a painter, athletic trainer, soldier, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu athlete. These varied experiences have shaped my appreciation for resilience, vulnerability, and growth.

I’m deeply curious about people—their stories, struggles, and the ways they show up in the world. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and understood. I look forward to walking alongside you as you move toward healing, self-discovery, and a more fulfilling life.

I look forward to hearing more of your story! Feel free to give me a call or send me an email at Dom@PaxTherapyCo.com
